Our client is a renowned multinational group belonging to the Luxury Retail industry. For the enhancement of the Information Technology Department, Hays is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join the Data Department, based in Rome.

Your new role

The position requires a great operation-oriented attitude, together with a broad experience on streams like Data Modelling, Data Ingestion, Data Quality, Data Governance and Business Intelligence. The candidate will actively participate to the transition from legacy systems to modern BI, leading the path towards the new technology. The resource will be responsible for the following activities:

• Development and maintenance of scalable data pipelines, to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity
• Driving data automation through effective Data Management, by using innovative and modern tools, techniques, and architectures
• Collaboration with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed BI tools, increasing data accessibility
• Implementing processes and systems to monitor data quality, data consumption patterns and schema changes, to ensure production data is accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes
• Performing data analysis required to troubleshoot data-related issues and assist in the resolution of data issues
• Designing data integrations and data quality framework
• Designing and evaluating open source and vendor tools for data cataloguing, lineage, and quality
• Participating in ensuring compliance and governance during data use
• Defining and managing SLA for AMS processes

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate has a university background in Computer Science or related technical fields. Moreover, the suitable resource has experience in designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems.

The technical skills required are:

• 4+ years of experience with Data modelling and schema design
• 4+ years of experience with SQL technologies (e.g. Oracle, MS Server, BigQuery, etc.). No-SQL experience is a plus
• Experience with at least one programming language, mostly data oriented (e.g. Python, etc.)
• Experience with at least one BI technology (e.g. PowerBI, Qlik, Looker, etc.)
• Experience with cloud based technologies, within the data context, of the most important Cloud providers (e.g. Google, Microsoft Azure, AWS)
• Best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
• Fluency in English

The following preferred skills may complete the profile:

• Experience with modern data pipeline technologies is a plus (e.g. Dbt, Dataform, etc.)
• Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies is a plus
• DevOps/DataOps experience

English fluency, written and spoken, has to be considered as mandatory for this job opportunity.
